Welcome to Ashwell Lodge


Ashwell Lodge is a high support accommodation service. We provide safe, comfortable housing for adults, aged 18+, with a mental health diagnosis. Specialist support workers are available onsite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help people develop the skills needed for independent living. 

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health issue during their lifetime. We believe that mental illness should never be a barrier to achieving your goals and dreams. Our residents are supported to make progress in their recovery in an environment that meets their individual support needs.

Hi, I’m Sam and I am the deputy manager at Ashwell Lodge.

I have worked in a supported living accommodation for 9 years with adults who experience severe and enduring mental health illnesses.

Within this time, I have achieved my Level 3 in Lead Adult Care.

I am passionate about helping people regain their confidence and independence whilst on their recovery journey and making a meaning full difference to their lives every day.  

What We Offer At Ashwell Lodge

As part of our accomodation we offer a number of services to our residents.

Bespoke Service

Our assessment process ensures that the support is tailored exactly to the needs of the individual and ongoing support planning.

24 Hour Support

Specialist support workers are available on-site throughout the day and night.

Keyworking

1:1 support sessions and regular progress reviews, working together to develop the skills needed to live independently.

Signposting

Strong links with local partners providing mental and physical wellbeing, community engagement and substance misuse support.

A Comfortable Home

Ashwell Lodge is a large house with a communal lounge, dining area and spacious garden. Some rooms possess en suite facilities.

Structure & Activity

Individuals are supported to access in-house groups and community activities including creative arts, music, horticulture, mental health, film nights, healthy living.

Ashwell Lodge is situated close to Boscombe pier and beaches, in a quiet suburban area approximately 10 minutes walk from Boscombe high street. 

The home provides specialist high supported accommodation for adults aged 18+ with a diagnosed mental health condition. 

We accept referrals from Brokerage, Health and Social Care Professionals, and individuals to live at Ashwell Lodge.  We then carry out a full needs assessment to ascertain whether Ashwell Lodge is suitable, and invite the applicant to view the home.

We have strong links with Dorset Mental Health Forum, Vocational Services, Bournemouth and Poole College, the Recovery Education Centre, Bournemouth Volunteer Centre and Arts University Bournemouth.

All rooms are offered as fully furnished, containing a bed and mattress, chest of drawers, wardrobe and bedside table.  We also dress the room with lamp, pictures and soft furnishings but these can be removed if preferred. 

Ashwell Lodge is staffed 24 hours a day.  There will be management cover between 9 – 5 Monday to Friday and on call at other times.  Support staff will be present in the house at all times, so there is always someone to talk to.

Residents receive a combination of 1:1 and group support, including weekly keyworking, work on positive mental health, recovery and future action planning, life skills workshops, and support in attending external groups and activities in sports, health, the arts and education.  Staff are available 24 hours a day so there is always someone to talk to.

Yes.  In order to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all residents and staff there is a set of guidelines around living at Ashwell Lodge.  We believe that respect between residents and staff is essential in order to maximise the support and opportunities at the home, and therefore there is a set of roles and responsibilities that detail our expectations

Pets are not permitted at Ashwell Lodge.

Ashwell Lodge is surrounded by a large garden with patio and BBQ facilities.  The garden at the front of the house contains raised beds for vegetable and flower gardening.  Residents enjoy spending time in the open plan lounge and dining room with kitchen facilities available.  A shared laptop is available for residents to use with the support of staff.

Overnight visitors are not permitted at Ashwell Lodge.  This is for a variety of reasons including Health & Safety and Insurance conditions.  We are happy to facilitate visitors during the hours of 9am – 8pm.  Visitors must register with the manager on their first visit, so should bring ID with them. 

Staff at Ashwell Lodge can assist with budgeting advice and planning, benefit application and managing a bank account.  We can also liaise with solicitors or deputies for those individuals under the Court of Protection.
